Making Learning Fun:
Create A Board Game for Review
During my placement, my partner and I made a board game with our class to directly involve the students. Our service-learning class was able to learn about New Jersey with our board game, as it introduced the content in a way that entertained students while acting as a review for their social studies unit. The students were able to help design the board with coloring, which gave the students' ownership in their learning. It was used as a way to provide a alternate way of learning that is more engaging than a review sheet. The New Jersey board game allowed the students to review through leisurely play to prepare for the unit test.
