Non-Fiction Writing
I taught a non-fiction unit which covered the features of nonfiction and how to research. This was then applied in the creation of their "All About Penguin" book which they created and presented in class.
This was an interdisciplinary lesson since it incorporated reading, since it connected to the book Mr. Popper's Penguins we were reading at the moment. It also incorporated science since the students were doing research on a specific penguin. Below is an example of one of my student's work.
